Welcome to Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA)
PACA is a vibrant, inclusive school where we put every student’s progress and success at the heart of all we do.
Our ambition is to support your child to develop the skills, knowledge, qualifications, character and ambition to create amazing opportunities and to be successful. In recent years our results have consistently improved. Rated GOOD by Ofsted, this summer again saw our students celebrating some exceptional GCSE results. 99% of our GCSE students progressed into sixth forms, further education or employment in 2019 - that 6% above the latest published national average. You can read about this year's GCSEs on our News pages.
Learning at PACA happens within and beyond the classroom and involves far more than the formal, taught curriculum. We actively help our students to recognise their leadership and development capabilities, and offer a great range of enrichment activities - from our award-winning Student Social Action Committee to the Junior Football Academy. Our students enjoy using our superb music facilities and creating in our renowned art department.
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. At PACA we aim to meet and exceed your expectations of what a school should offer. We know that your role in inspiring, supporting and helping your child to succeed is vital, and that is why we place a very high value on great home-school communication. Pick up the phone or come to see us. We are here to work with you so that together we can make every moment count.
Set on the edge of Brighton and the South Downs, ours is a community school that serves students from across Brighton and West Sussex. Our students increasingly come from further afield as parents make more active choices about schools.
My hope is that through this website you get a feel for our school, for the importance we place on nurturing a love of learning, for our belief that every student can and should succeed, and our commitment to ensuring every young person at PACA has a rich and fulfilling education. This site can only give you a glimpse of the diversity and vitality of our school, however, so I urge you to visit us, meet our students and staff, and see through your own eyes what life at PACA is like.
I look forward to meeting you.
Mr Mark Poston, Principal
Our son came to PACA in Year 8 without many academic prospects, but through the support and encouragement of all his teachers over the remaining years he has developed into a confident, kind, mature, well-mannered and communicative child, with a set of GCSE results that give him far more choice than we would have hoped for. We can only thank all of the staff involved in Luke’s education and support in his development and his wellbeing. He really is a success story thanks to PACA and I hope you can all feel immensely proud as we do in his achievements.
