August 2020's GCSE results day was a very different one for all schools, students and parents. As a result of the Covid lockdown exams were not sat and Centrally Assessed Grades were awarded to all students in England. As a result the Government has confirmed that there will be no school league tables published this year.
On results day Mr Poston congratulated our students saying: "On this strangest of results days we are delighted to be celebrating great results with students, parents and staff. Like all schools in the country, we are still waiting the final outcome for our BTECs. But that aside, we can see enough to know that there are great outcomes and we’re delighted that our students are going on to their next phase of education with strong results behind them.
After the confusion at the start of the week it is good to know that these results are a true reflection of our students’ terrifically hard work over the past five years they have been with us. What an amazing year group they have been. I look back on how we were steaming ahead to the exams due to start in May and then of course it all stopped. We worried that the colossal efforts our students had made and the support from their families and the dedication from the team at PACA would be lost, but now, we have a day when we can celebrate. Well done to everyone."
Daniella was just one of our Year11s celebrating GCSE results today. Daniella said she felt “amazing” and “quite speechless” on getting her results, which included eight grade 9s and two grade 8s.
PACA Vice Principal Catherine Bradley said: “For Daniella, the Aldridge attributes have been a key part of how much she has enjoyed her time at PACA. We help our students develop their teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, risk-taking, passion and determination during their journey through the academy.
We believe this creates rounded and resilient individuals ready for any challenge and it’s been hugely relevant to the class of 2020 facing lockdown in their most important school year to date.”
Amy, Kaitlin and Millie were also celebrating this morning.
Amy gained double 8s in English and 8s in Spanish and Food & Nutrition. Kaitlin and Millie also picked up a suite of top grades with both students gaining double 9s in English and 7 and 8 in maths respectively. Kaitlin said she felt “fantastic” and Millie was “shocked, happy and surprised.”
Both were keen to pass on a big thank you to their teachers at PACA. Millie said that PACA’s biggest strength is the student teachers relationships and Kaitlin said all her teachers were “passionate” about their subject areas and supporting students.
All three students are going on to BHASVIC to start their A level courses.
Mays was delighted to achieve a list of top grades including 9s in maths and Arabic as well as 8s in science and French. Although English is her second language Mays secured strong passes in both English Language and Literature as well.
In August 2019 our students also celebrated some exceptional GCSE results, with a number achieving top grades in a whole range of subjects, including maths and English. Over 15% of all grades were top grade 7s, 8s or 9s. 99% of our students continued in education or training, or went in to employment, following their GCSEs, 4% above the local authority average.
You can view the Academy’s last published performance data on the Department for Education website. In 2019 99% of our GCSE students went on to sixth form or further education colleges, or into employment - 6% above the latest published national average.
