• Thursday 24 April 2025 Brighton & Hove Young Speakers Challenge Last term, PACA students, with the support of Ms. Jung, participated in the Brighton and Hove Young Speakers Challenge. This inspiring project, a collaboration between Brighton & Hove Schools and Sussex University, aims to boost confidence among young speakers.
• Wednesday 26 March 2025 UKSA Space to Learn Event 20th March On Thursday 20th March, the National Space Academy (funded by the UK Space Agency) ran two masterclasses at PACA called "Artemis and Beyond". Students learnt about distances in Space, how astronauts get to the Moon from Earth, how rockets are fueled and how astronauts survive being in Space. They made and launched rockets, recreated the pressures in space and had the opportunity to wear a real Soviet astronaut helmet.
• Wednesday 26 March 2025 Swimming success On Wednesday, PACA took part in the Brighton Schools Swimming Competition at Prince Regent. All students had a fantastic time representing PACA who were making their debut within the event. Some of the teams outstanding performances were Annabelle Leighton (3rd in the 100m Medley & 2nd in the 50m Freestyle); Maaya Pates (3rd in the 50m Freestyle) and Toby Lancaster (4th in the 100m Medley). If your children is interested in taking part in this next year please contact the PE Team as we would like to grow the number of participants for next year.

• Friday 14 February 2025 Dare to Dream 2025 - Southern Water Visit On Tuesday, 11th February, a group of enthusiastic Year 9 students embarked on an exciting workplace experience at Southern Water. This visit was part of the inspiring Dare to Dream programme, organized in collaboration with the Love Local Jobs Foundation. The programme also includes a valuable mentoring component for our students.
• Monday 3 February 2025 Holocaust visiting speaker On Monday 3rd February, PACA welcomed a distinguished speaker from the Holocaust Education Trust, who shared their father's poignant experiences on the Kindertransport. This visit marked the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust, providing Year 9 students with a deeply moving and educational experience.
• Monday 27 January 2025 Year 7 trip to see Wicked! On Wednesday last week Y7 Students from PACA embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Apollo Theatre in London Victoria to witness the acclaimed musical "Wicked." The excitement was palpable as they entered the theatre, with its stunning interior adding to the sense of occasion.

• Thursday 12 December 2024 PACA Student Council Today, members of the Brighton and Hove Council visited the student council at Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) to discuss the future aspirations of the area. The visit included an in-depth look at key locations such as Boundary Road, where they assessed current and future areas of importance, projecting as far ahead as 2041.

• Friday 22 November 2024 TeenTech Sussex A group of ten Year 9 students from Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA), along with 300 other students from schools all over Sussex, recently participated in an inspiring TeenTech event held at the AMEX stadium. Home of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club. The event aimed to engage young people in the fields of science, technology, and engineering, emphasising inclusivity regardless of gender or social background.

• Monday 30 September 2024 Celebrating Language Week at PACA Last week PACA celebrated lots of countries and cultures from all around the world with our annual Language Week. We had Japanese lessons, a language quiz in Tutor, students taught taster lessons in their home languages including Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Polish, Italian, Portuguese, Greek and Polish. We finished off the week with a celebration of all the wonderful cultures at PACA with an International Food Festival at lunch time. Here students and staff brought in food from different countries around the world for students to try.

General Election at PACA!With the General Election looming on 4th July, all this week we are holding our own vote at PACA.PACA has set up a polling station in the Oasis, where students are casting their individual votes. ????? Students have been informed about each party, empowering them to make their own decisions. It’s an exciting opportunity for Y7 students to participate in the democratic process during their assembly time. ??This gives students a chance to learn about why politics matters and the importance individuals being able to cast their own votes.
