Local Governing Committee

We would like to welcome you to our Local Governing Committee who are responsible for ensuring that PACA provides a high-quality educational experience.

As a member of the Aldridge Education family of schools, our Local Governing Committee is part of the overall governance structure of the multi-academy trust.

Chair of Governors

Peter Wylie

Peter first visited the then Portslade Community College in 1982 when he worked for East Sussex.

His career in education has taken him to a diverse range of places in addition to Sussex, working in Middlesbrough, Birmingham and Leicestershire. He was Director of Education in Knowsley from 1993 to 2000 and was Director of Education/ Children’s Services in Croydon from 2003 to 2008.
He has been a governor of the BRIT school for the Performing Arts, and of Chailey Heritage School. Most recently Peter has been Director of Education for the Baker Dearing trust promoting new University Technical Colleges including UTC@harbourside. Since 2000 Peter and his family have lived near Uckfield.
In his spare time Peter sings with the East Sussex Bach Choir and is a member at Sussex County Cricket Club.

Sarah Jennings

I live in Mile Oak and have one child at PACA and one at Mile Oak primary school.

After University, I started my career as an English and drama teacher and then worked at a school for children with Special Needs. I have a keen interest in adoption and fostering and am a proud adoptive parent.

I run a media company and work with a number of businesses ranging from start-ups to large corporations. I have a particular interest in media and entrepreneurship.

I am passionate about making sure that every child makes the most of their opportunities at school and leaves ready to make the most of their opportunities in life.

Simon Thompson

I live and work in Brighton and want to contribute to my local community.

I have been a governor at PACA since 2011 and seek to support the academy in its drive to be an excellent place to learn and teach.

 

I have previously been a history teacher in Brighton and now work at the University of Sussex as the Director of Initial Teacher Education. I am particularly committed to securing the best possible experiences and outcomes for all pupils, whilst ensuring that teaching and learning remains engaging, challenging, meaningful and fun.

Alex Murphy

I live in Portslade and am a PACA parent with another child at primary school.

Alex Murphy has lived in Brighton for 20 years - and in Portslade for 13 of those. She works as a journalist for the BBC, and worked at  BBC Sussex before moving on to work for BBC across the country.

 

Both Alex's children have been to PACA. Her daughter got excellent GCSE results and is now doing A Levels at college and her son is still at the school. She is committed to making PACA the best place possible for the children of the area and is proud of being part of such a great school.
