All students have a contribution to life at PACA. Through student leadership roles, students can help shape and lead their academy whilst developing important skills and developing entrepreneurial attributes. Students have the opportunity to apply or be chosen for leadership roles throughout their time at PACA.
The roles that are either currently available, or are being rolled out over the course of the academic year are:
- Transition Buddies (Year 7)
- Senior Prefects (Year 11)
- Prefects (Year 10)
- Junior Prefects (Year 9)
- Academy Librarians (all years)
- Form Captains (all years)
- Academy Council Representatives (All years)
- Sports Captains (Year 10)
- Social Action Committee Member
- ECO Warriors
- Expert Learners (Introducing)
The profile of student leadership within PACA will develop from an already successful starting point. The Social Action Committee has been active in promoting local, national and international causes.
In May 2015, the Social Action Committee were awarded Charity Achievement of the Year in The Argus Youth in Action Awards, held at Sussex Cricket Ground. After being shortlisted to three, the Argus chose the Academy due to the record-breaking number of nominations they received for PACA for this category. Having raised thousands of pounds for local and national charities from Macmillan’s UK work in cancer research to the city’s Martlet Hospice, the Social Action Committee were a deserved winner ahead of the competition.
The academy was also awarded Youth in Action Community School of the Year 2016 for all its community efforts and most Improved School of the Year 2017.
