Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) students and staff are delighted with another year of exceptional results, both in terms of progress and attainment. 71.4% of students achieved grade 4 good passes in both English and maths, up from 70% last year. 56% achieved grade 5 and above ‘strong’ passes, also up 6% on 2017.
Indiana Descombes achieved 5 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s. Erica Lin achieved 4 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 2 grade 7s and an A* in additional maths. Eve Murphy achieved 4 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and a grade 6. Students who achieved outstanding progress include Marc Eacott, Kyal Humberstone and Gabriella Harris-Maunders, who all achieved on average, nearly 2 whole GCSE grades higher in each of their subjects above what their results at primary school predicted them to achieve.
*FFT is a way of making national comparisons. It means that we are in the top 5% and top 20% in the country for schools of a similar type.
**From 2017 grades 9-1 will be used instead of A*-G for maths and English.
**From 2018 grades 9-1 will be used for all GCSE subjects.
