Dear Parents and Carers
I start this weekly message with an apology that it comes late. PACA has been subject to a computer virus that has created huge problems for our IT team and for our school. We have closed the school to the internet and we have closed our accounts to external email accounts. This has had the impact that it has slowed every aspect of our work.
By buying into updated anti-virus software we are now confident that we have cleared the virus from our systems. However, needless to say, if you receive emails from the school which have attachments which are not properly named, do not open them; delete them and contact the school.
Despite IT woes the academy continues to do amazing things.
This week, a selection of Year 10s and 11s have been given some really informative and useful sessions from the Youth Advice Centre teaching our students about homelessness prevention and how easily it can happen to anyone. The students have engaged really well and many changed their opinion on ‘what homelessness looks like’. These sessions will continue throughout the term to all students in years 10 and 11.
Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) is a co-educational school for 11 to 18 year olds based in the heart of the Mile Oak Community in Portslade, Brighton.
PACA’s motto is ‘Unlocking Potential’ and we are committed to unlocking the full potential in our students and staff.
