Information for Year 7 Parent/Carers from Brighton and Hove Healthy Child Programme School Nurse Service
School Nurses from Sussex Community Foundation NHS Trust will be visiting all Year 7 classes and talking to students about their role. Part of this session will involve the distribution and completion of a questionnaire to support healthy lifestyles as well as offering support around transition to secondary school. Please see the attached leaflet on the School Nurse service.
The student will have the option on the questionnaire to ask to meet with the School Nurse individually if they wish. Please see attached a copy of the questionnaire young people are given the option to complete. They will also be advised of the weekly drop in run by the school nurse and the Chat Health texting service.
It will be the Y7 student’s choice to complete the questionnaire. All questionnaires will be collected by the School Nurse at the end of the talk and will be held confidentially. If the School Nurse feels that the student would benefit from some specific support once they have reviewed any completed questionnaires they will ask to see the student in school to discuss. If the support is ongoing the School Nurse will contact the parent/carer where relevant.
School Nurses always encourage young people to discuss with their parent/carer if they see the School Nurse.
