Good behaviour is a priority for the academy, students and parents. We have a strong pastoral support system at PACA with processes to support all students. We make our expectations for good behaviour very clear to students when they join PACA.
Throughout their school life this is supported by our behaviour and reward system. Students will be awarded Praise points (P points) for good work and behaviour. They will be given Consequence points (C Points) for poor work and behaviour. The P points add up over time for individual and School rewards so children are encouraged to behave well, both for themselves and as part of a larger School team.
PACA does not tolerate bullying of any kind. We make that clear to the students when they join and it is reinforced in tutor time and through PSHE lessons. All children are encouraged to speak up if they or someone else is being bullied and any bullying is dealt with promptly and firmly.
If you are concerned about bullying please speak to your child’s form tutor or to the Head of School.
We also expect good behaviour when children are moving around the school and going to and from school as well as in lessons. This means we don’t allow children to swear, drop litter, damage or graffiti any school property or make unreasonable amounts of noise. We want students to have respect for other people and property and we know that most children find disruptive behaviour unsettling.
If students do the wrong thing we operate a restorative justice system. Research has shown this to be the most effective way of improving poor behaviour and establishing good behaviour habits by students identifying the consequences of their actions and putting things right.
With more extreme bad behaviour we have a clear sanction system that involves withdrawal from lessons and in the most severe cases, temporary or permanent exclusion from school. If you want to know more about our exclusions policy please click here.
PACA promotes British Values which include tolerance and mutual respect. Students are reminded that we will not tolerate any form of discrimination and will meet our legal obligations. If you want to see our policies please look in the ‘about us’ section where the list of school policies are available to view.
